_Why Glossier?

This is my very first haul on my blog and I’d like to introduce one of my favourite minimalist makeup/ skin care brand ever, Glossier! I’m interested in getting to know their brand for quite some time now after finding out about them through a Buzzfeed quiz.

Then, I went to stalk their Instagram and it’s so inspiring. Glossier – the makeup brand that all those who seek “aesthetically pleasing, yet effective products” desire. What made me really interested in checking out their products would definitely have to be their mission, ‘Skin First, Makeup Second.’ It makes a lot of sense, in my opinion, to always take good care of your skin first. Makeup is optional.

“Glowing, dewy skin is our thing. Our skincare products are designed to instantly optimize skin’s tone, texture, and hydration levels so that it’s already at its best before you even think about makeup. ”

I’m not a fan of putting too much makeup on my face, though I’m a fan of makeup. Caking my face with lots of makeup isn’t really my style and it gets really hot especially where I live, Singapore. I want makeup that stays with you, not covers you. So, without further ado, these are the reasons why I’m compelled to buy Glossier!

Why I Like Glossier?

        1. Makeup is supposed to be easy. It’s supposed to be fun!

That’s the narrative that Glossier, started by Emily Weiss’s popular beauty website Into The Gloss, is trying to tell.

        2. Makeup for the lazy (aka me)

I’m more into an effortless look. It’s the kind of makeup where you don’t want anyone to know you’re really wearing makeup at all. I’m into that.

       3. Minimalist Packaging

So aesthetically pleasing. I appreciate these things. Makes my insides tingle.

       4. Glossier’s Typography

Really happy, quirky and fun! I feel so motivated and inspired.

     5. Glossier’s Website

The icons are so cute. I love it!

    6. Their Instagram Feed

Their mood boards are everything. Pastel pinks, reds and whites. Go check out their Instagram for inspiration! Or Pinterest, Tumblr.

   7. Importantly, their products!

_Glossier Haul!

This is my very first Glossier order. I ordered Phase 1 and Phase 2 because why not. When I received my box, I’m rather happy with the box. It’s so pretty and no way am I going to throw it away. There’s stickers and this pretty pink pouch.

You can customise your own Phase 1 and Phase 2 set. Also, you save more money buying in sets than individually.

For Phase 1 (skin care), I chose:

  • Milky Jelly Cleanser

Use 2-3 pumps directly on dry skin – massage thoroughly to melt down makeup (including non-waterproof eye makeup), and rinse. Or, massage 1-2 pumps onto wet skin for gentle clean, especially first thing in the morning or as a final cleansing step after using an oil-based makeup remover.

The consistency is so smooth and milky. Has a subtle rose smell. Once I applied this, my skin feels so smooth. It doesn’t have that tight, dry feeling after I used it. Would definitely recommend this!

  • Birthday Balm Dotcom

Apply to lips, cuticles, rough patches, and anywhere skin needs extra nourishment. It acts as a protective barrier to keep hydration locked in and dryness locked out, so remember to swipe some on before bed, plane rides, hot yoga, and arctic journeys.

The scent I chose is Birthday and it smells so good. It leaves a subtle hint of glitter, nothing too much which I like. The smell of sweet, sweet cake… Yummy… I’ll definitely collect all the Balm Dotcoms.

  • Priming Moisturiser

Use on clean dry skin, or after applying toner or serums. Layer to build up to the perfect amount of moisture depending on how your skin’s feeling on any given day. It smooths texture and evens tone, so you’re perfectly prepped for makeup (or not). When using a sunscreen, apply after Priming Moisturiser.

I thought this Priming Moisturiser would be like any other moisturiser – thick and greasy. I was surprised that the consistency of Priming Moisturiser is lightweight and has a light scent. Once applied, it made my pores smaller. My skin feels so moisturised and refreshed after application.

Phase 2 (makeup):

  • Boy Brow – Black

Apply to brow in short, upward strokes. Brush your sprouts (the perky little hairs closest to your nose) straight up for the most naturally groomed look.

This is Glossier’s #1 best-selling product and I see why. I tried Boy Brow and very impressed with how my eyebrows turn out. It looks much fuller with a few strokes and I guess my eyebrows are finally on fleek. I’m not into really filling, drawing in my brows so when I heard of Boy Brow, I know I had to get my hands on it!

  • Generation G – Like

It has a lower pigment load than most lipsticks, which lets you build up to get the look you want. Glide across naked lips for the sheerest flush of colour, or add 2-3 more swipes for extra oomph.

I like Like. It isn’t that bold and looks close to my natural lip colour. If I want my lips to stand out more, I can just swipe a few more swipes. Will definitely collect all Generation G colours.

  • Stretch Concealer – Dark

Use fingertips to blend into skin wherever you want flexible coverage – around the nose, on dark circles, or any areas with redness or blemishes.

It does its job. It does conceal my acne scars and redness. If you want full coverage, I think you wouldn’t want to consider Stretch Consider. But if you want light coverage, by all means, get this.

I got these products so far and would love to purchase more! The thing I love most about Glossier is that it enhances my features instead of covering it. I’ll definitely come back for more.
